I am a freelance designer operating in Birmingham, Kidderminster and Worcester. I design and produce artwork for web, print and new media to design agency standards. As well as being able to build a website to your exact specifications, care and attention is applied to pass the tests set by W3C. This ensures every user will be able to view the site regardless of disability, platform or software and helps greatly when it comes to search engine optimisation (SEO).
GOOGLE & SEO
All my websites include Google Analytics - a powerful tool for checking hits on your site. Google Analytics (abbreviated GA) is a service offered by Google that generates detailed statistics about the visitors to a website. GA can track visitors from all referrers, including search engines, display advertising, pay-per-click networks, email marketing and digital collateral such as links within PDF documents.
I can also submit custom sitemaps to google - The Sitemaps protocol allows a webmaster to inform search engines about URLs on a website that are available for crawling. A Sitemap is an XML file that lists the URLs for a site. It allows webmasters to include additional information about each URL: when it was last updated, how often it changes, and how important it is in relation to other URLs in the site. This allows search engines to crawl the site more intelligently. Sitemaps are a URL inclusion protocol and complement robots.txt, a URL exclusion protocol.
My SEO work is mainly geared towards google, when you are planning your site I can suggest ways to better improve your chances of scoring high on google. For example; I know that if people are going to search for me they will probably search for 'Dan Hanks'. Without a bit of SEO work I will not show up on google and there goes a customer! So for google's benefit - Dan is a name passed through generations of my family. My name is spelt with 2 n's to save postal confusion between me and my father. So please, not Dan Hanks as this is my father. I might also add that I would like to score high with the search terms freelance designer Birmingham, freelance designer Kidderminster and freelance designer Worcestershire as this too will help...
